Value Added Education App Projects
The following apps are our recent app projects with schools here in Wales. The app content has all been created by the pupils working with Value Added Education. The app projects take a school term to complete before they are published to the AppStore. After an initial planning day there are Team Teaching sessions with the staff and pupils where the pupils learn how to use specific apps to create the content. MiHealth
The MiHealth app was featured on BBC Wales news.
Croeso! Welcome to the MiHealth App; an app designed by pupils from Pantysgallog Primary School to promote positive mental health and well-being. With a brilliant range of activities designed specifically for students by students you can experience feelings of calm and relaxation. Here you can use Augmented Reality to bring children’s amazing artwork and fitness routines in to your own home or classroom. Learn how to promote your health and well-being by using the features within the App.
Promoting wellbeing is at the heart of this app. This app is designed to make sure there is something for everyone. Use the sections to guide yourself through exciting activities to enjoy and choose an activity that will spark your interest.
Are you wanting to find the key to keep fit and healthy? Then this is the App for you! The MiHealth App can help you develop your health and well-being in minutes. There are a variety of sections, such as: mindfulness art, calming music, fitness, healthy eating and emotional literacy stories. Choose the one that works for you!

History Hunters
The History Hunters app is an app for local history lovers everywhere. The app is based in Wales and celebrates the landmarks found all over The Principality. All the content for the app has been created by primary school children and includes information text, blogs, Minecraft models, Augmented Reality and digital drawings
Follow the History Hunters as they explore the country, looking for landmarks and places of interest they have found in Wales.
Take a look at the fabulous digital drawings the children at Llansannor Primary School have created to accompany their information text.
The children update their blogs regularly, so make sure you follow them to keep abreast of other places the History Hunters have discovered. Use the app to motivate your children and find out about local landmarks in your own area.
The children have created Marvellous Minecraft models of their favourite historical landmark. Have fun with the Augmented Reality and put Beaumaris Castle in your classroom! Find out what it’s like to walk around The National Botanic Gardens whilst sitting at home. Build your own scene and use as a stimulus for creative writing. Watch the increase in engagement and interactivity Augmented Reality affords.
The most unique thing about this particular app is that it was created entirely online during lockdown! The app shows how successful online learning can be when children are motivated and engaged in their learning.
GeorgeCast
Have you ever wanted to discover Tredegar online? Tired of going on multiple websites to research Tredegar? Why not download GeorgeCast? If the answer is yes then GeorgeCast is the app for you. GeorgeCast is an app which allows you to find out about Tredegar without going on millions of websites!
The app GeorgeCast has multiple features that will help you discover Tredegar with ease.The app has a really great Blog page. The children also wrote about the history of Tredegar’s most popular landmarks like The Town Clock, Tredegar Ironworks, Bedwellty House and Park and Bryn Bach Park.
We have Been working with Dean Beat Technique and Value Added. We also have podcasts and raps about places in Tredegar.
On the app there is Augmented Reality models thanks to Minecraft Education Edition. Our app also has virtual maps that can show you where each famous landmark is located.
We think that the app is great to find out about Tredegar, you can observe many locations from around Tredegar in Augmented reality. Listen to podcasts and raps, also about each of the landmarks.

Are you prepared to be taken to and from countries far and near without moving a muscle? Then this is the app for you! You can be taken to magic lands through the power of story writing and technology, every story is written by Primary School children who really did try their hardest on this app, Every story is supported with many digitally drawn pictures related to the story you are reading. There are also animated videos alongside the stories, to help with reading, these are digitally drawn! If you are really into your technology there is an Augmented Reality page where we have built amazing models on Minecraft.
This app was created as a project to enhance technology and writing skills. This app is designed to help people to explore the stories that have originated for different parts of the world, from the comfort of your home. Welcome to our City of Tomorrow app. This app will fuel your imagination and show you what the future could actually look like. All the content has been created by the pupils at Pontnewydd Primary School and includes information we have researched as well as text, blogs, Minecraft models, Augmented Reality and digital drawings. This app is a must for all those who are fascinated with the future!
Explore the City of Tomorrow, looking at how the hospitals, schools, leisure facilities, fire stations, police stations and other parts of the city will look. Climb into future vehicles like a police car, fire engine and helicopters and see what features transportation of the future could have.
Take a look inside the Minecraft buildings of the future. You will find a range of robots to help you on your journey. Have a go at can building your own city in augmented reality. A truly interactive app experience.

iWonder Wales
Have you ever thought about the people that make your community special? Have you wondered when, why and how a community changes and develops over time? Have you thought about how the differences in traditions and cultures that come together in a place make an extraordinary, diverse and rich tapestry that makes a community special? We did, and in the Autumn of 2021 we set about finding out about how the place we call home has been built by many people from different places.
In this app we explore how people from different parts of the world have come to Wales and made it their home, adding to our cultural heritage and helping to make Wales a vibrant, multi-cultural country.
Cymmer Community Team have researched a variety of cultures and religions although we realise there are many more people who have helped make Wales the rich diverse country it is today. Maybe you research people from different parts of the world and find out how they have influenced our country?
The app is designed to explore the stories of how our communities in Wales have been enriched by the addition of people from different parts of the world.
This app is designed to explore the stories and culture of these individuals who have come from different parts of the world, who have made Wales their home. Reaching far back into the history of Wales over many eras from the Medieval times through to the modern day.

Are you looking for something to engage and motivate your learners? Then this is the app for you.
Follow the children’s progress with the app by reading their blog, made using Adobe Spark Page, which documents the process used to make the app from start to finish!
Their blogs are also regularly updated, so check in to see how the children at Llantarnam are getting along and what they are up to. You can meet the Year 6 children responsible for all of the content within the app. Why don’t you ask your class to make a list of things you might like to do as part of a digital team and think of what you would like to see on your own app! After all, it will be good practice for the future, you can think about what skills and aptitudes you will need for a career in the digital world!

There’s a variety of games to engage with and enjoy playing. Gaming may be fun but it also teaches us about science! What a great way to learn about forces!

Have fun with the block games made by the children in augmented reality for the children to play with their peers. Each level gets harder so watch out for the explosions! The interactive buttons allow you to reset the game anytime you wish. Try challenging each other to a match!
Tap the button to Randomly choose a character in our randomly character guess and practice asking questions to discover who the characters are.
Try the bowling game, coded by the children using the laws of physics and decide which way you need to move to achieve a strike! Discover which forces the children used to move the ball.
Trallwyn
Do you want to teach the ‘Patterns’ topic to younger children? This is the app to inspire you in the classroom and for pupils and parents at home. This is the app where all content has been made by children for children.
Patterns can be found all around us and especially in nature. The children at Trallwng Infants School have built ‘Pattern Town’ for children to explore in augmented reality on their device. What patterns can they find? Which is the tallest pattern building? Which is the smallest building? Can you copy any of the patterns using blocks? Teach positional language ‘next to’, ‘ in front of’ etc. Children will be inspired to build their own ‘Pattern Town’ either digitally or using real world resources.
Inspire the children in your class or at home to explore animal patterns by looking at examples created by the Trallwng pupils. The Y2 pupils have created their own Digital Portrait Gallery to inspire you. The pupils in your class can use the Keynote app to create their digital portraits.
Our children have created Stop Frame animations using leaves as they have explored the patterns in nature. Pupils in your class can watch to find inspiration for their own animations. Can they think of other resources from nature to add to their animations?
Dances are a sequence of patterns that are repeated. The Trallwng pupils have created their own dance pattern routines for you to follow. Can you create dance patterns in your class? Let the children teach their routines to others or record their pattern dances using their devices.
The children have produced all the content for our Teaching and Learning resources which include random generators for coloured shapes, 2D shapes, story scene settings, story characters and money.
Use the ‘Coloured Shapes Random Generator Tool’ in a wide variety of teaching activities, e.g. each coloured symbol relates to a specific task for the children to complete.
The ‘2D shape Tool’ allows the teaching of 2D shapes in a fun engaging way. Can the children name the generated shape, and can they tell you the shape’s properties? How many sides does the shape have?
During story writing the ‘SettingTool’ and ‘ ‘Character Tool’ can be used to inspire and challenge the children. What happens when the Teacher, Dragon and Pirate went to explore the cave?
Use the ‘Money Tool’ to help while teaching money to younger children. How much would it cost to buy a book for 50p and a ruler for £1?
